What is a Faith Hero? A Faith Hero is a person who puts their faith into action. The Saints are Faith Heroes because of their actions. In October, we celebrate the feast days of some special Saints.

Faith Hero: St Therese of Lisieux St Therese of Lisieux was a Faith Hero because she put her faith into action. She helped others with small acts of kindness. 1st October

Faith Hero: St Francis of Assisi St Francis of Assisi was a Faith Hero because he put his faith into action. He did this by giving to others. 4th October

Faith Hero: St John XXIII St John XXIII was a Faith Hero because he put his faith into action. He did this by making a difference to others. 11th October

How does the Catholic Children’s Society put their faith into action? The Catholic Children’s Society are Faith Heroes because they put their faith into action. Through the Crisis Fund, they help children and families who are in need.

What is the Crisis Fund? The Crisis Fund provides emergency assistance for children, young people and families.

Lana’s Story

Lana’s Story Lana is six years old. Her teacher saw a change in her behaviour and noticed she had recently lost a lot of weight. Lana would eat plenty in school though- she would quickly finish all of her school lunch and then ask if there were any leftovers.

When the teacher spoke with Lana, she told her that this was the only food she ate all day. At weekends and during the holidays her family would just eat packets of powdered soup.

Six months earlier Lana’s dad had become very ill and could not work. He was getting better, but the family had to save all their money to pay for their home. They did not have enough money left for food.

Within 24 hours, CCS used money from the Crisis Fund to help Lana’s family pay the rent for their house and buy food. Lana’s dad is now much better and has returned to work. The family are very happy and Lana has enough food to eat every day.
