Who’s Charles Dickens?
Much loved for his great contribution to classic English literature. He was a Victorian author based in the 1800s. His writings are considered epic stories with vivid characters and exhaustive depiction of contemporary life.
Timeline - His father was a naval clerk who dreamed to be rich. - 1812 was born in Portsmouth, England. - His father was a naval clerk who dreamed to be rich. - His mother wanted to become a teacher and a school director. - 1819 Dickens and his family moved to Kent, England.
- 1822 the Dickens family moved to a poor neighborhood called Camden Town in London. - 1824 Charles’ father was sent to preson for debt. - Charles was forced to leave school and to start working at a boot- blacking factory. - 1827 he drop out of school again to support his family. - 1833 he began to send sketches to various magazines and newspapers. - 1836 his first book sketches by Buzz is published.
- Dickens had 10 children with Catherine Hogarth. - 1858 he got divorced. - His first novel was Oliver Twist.
