Here he attended school until his father was sent to prison for debt.
Charles was forced to work in a factory.
The experience was traumatic.
Some years later he went to work as a clerk in a legal office then started to work as journalist.

3. He was the most representative novelist of the Age.
Working as a Journalist gave him a good knowledge of contemporary problems.
Serial publication made him immensely popular (Oliver Twist, Hard Times)

He didn’t advocate any fundamental change in the system of Victorian society .
