Hornaday Weekend Conservation Project

As part of the Brush and Fire control plan, they had cleared an area which will be used for multiple activities and parking. A split rail fence will be built around the entire area by the OA in May.

The area will not be paved The area will not be paved. Grass will be planted in the entire area, but for them to be able to do that we had to clean up the area. Our job was to cut any roots, and remove large branches that were sticking up and leave the area in a much better condition.

About ten people volunteered to help us get this project done About ten people volunteered to help us get this project done. We used loppers to cut the roots, and rakes and shovels to load the trailers.

All of the branches and logs that were hauled away were used for erosion control on other parts of LPSR.

We hauled off over 260 cubic feet of material.

Several clusters of trees have been left in the area to provide shade Several clusters of trees have been left in the area to provide shade. They will be blocked off with rails.

The area will now be graded and sewn with grass seed The area will now be graded and sewn with grass seed. There will be spaces for 135 cars and trailers. It will also be used for an activity area.
