3. 1. Clear Cutting – all the trees are cut at once
Disadvantages:
Destroys entire ecosystem
Leaves even aged regrowth with little biodiversity
Causes secondary succession, which may result in a different a different climax community

4. 2. Seed Tree Approach - small numbers of seed producing trees are left standing
Disadvantages:
Leaves even aged regrowth with little biodiversity

5. 3. Shelterwood approach - small numbers of mature trees are left to provide shelter for seedlings
Disadvantages:
Leaves even aged regrowth with little biodiversity

6. 4. Selection systems – result in uneven aged regrowth and better biodiversity
Single tree selection – trees spaced far apart are cut on at a time
Group selection – small patches are cut
Disadvantage:
very expensive
