The forest-based sector and its raw material

FTP is about the collaboration, research and Innovation needed to create a better future EU research funding National Funding Agencies Forest owners Forest researchers Forest industry Other sectors and scientific domains Customers and technology providers

Renewed Vision 2030 10 Vision Targets for 2030 Vision Target 1: A resilient and diverse European forest is managed by owners who assisted by new multi-purpose management systems, provide all the functions of the forest including raw material production, biodiversity and recreational opportunities. Vision Target 4: A cascade use of wood-based materials is established throughout the entire value chain. Recovery, reuse and recycling of forest-based products account for 70% of all recyclable material. When recycling opportunities have been exhausted, the remaining material is used for energy production.

19 Research and Innovation Areas in FTPs Strategic Research Agenda At least four are highly relevant to EIP Raw Materials 2.4 Secured wood supply, forest operations and logistics 2.5 Cascade use, reuse and recycling systems 3.1 Resource efficiency in manufacturing 3.5 New business models and service concepts

Specific Actions in the SIP action n° I.7: Flexible and mobile processing plants for industrial minerals and aggregates action n° I.9: Recovery of materials from packaging action n° I.10: Supply of construction materials from urban mines action n° I.11: “Zero Waste” paper recycling mill Proposes action on Secured wood supply, forest operations and logistics
