Player / Parent / Support Staff Meeting JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB WHERE EAGLES LEARN TO SOAR Player / Parent / Support Staff Meeting

What are we aiming to achieve? Outline expectations for the season: Players Coaches / Support Staff Parents / Carers Football Department Committee Coaching Philosophy / Values

Change is the law of life Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. (John F Kennedy)

Coaching Philosophy Confidence through positive feedback. Rates of development of skill levels. Effort and fun.

Coaching Philosophy Training – fun & challenging. Improvement and understanding of the game. Players must make most of opportunities.

Coaching Philosophy Teamwork and friendships. Positive support for team mates.

Coaching Philosophy Competition is an important element of sport. Motivation from within. Effort and attitude earns respect.

Coaches can teach the tangibles not the intangibles. Great Coaches can provide an environment for players to discover the intangibles within themselves.

OBJECTIVES Help each player develop the skills necessary to be successful at this level for the benefit of the team and to prepare them for next season. To have fun and have the players develop a love for the game. Learn about the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. Give positive reinforcement based on effort rather than results. Provide a safe and healthy environment for all the players on the team. Short and long term goals.

Basic Playing Style Attacking: Fast, run & carry, spread, use of space, use the corridor. Defensive: Pressure the ball carrier, pressure their next options, create stoppages to allow us opportunity of winning ball.

Team Expectations Behaviour: Coaches and Players Bad decisions by umpires. Too hard on yourself. Too hard on your players / team mates. Opposition getting under your skin.

Team Expectations Behaviour: Parents Bad decisions by umpires. Cheering for our players vs. cheering for opponent’s failure. Arguments with opposing fans.

Team Requirements Training: 6-7:30pm Tues and Thurs Arrive at least 15mins early and warm up (Footy First) Match Day: Punctual, arrive 1 hour before game starts. Team instructions / Basic match Plan Player instructions Warm ups

We don’t just come to play the game. We play to rise above and overcome any challenges that the opposition throw at us. We play to push ourselves past the limitations of our bodies and minds. We play as one. We play to win.
