COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon successful completion of this course, it will: Provide the students with the knowledge and understanding of the classification of the chemical industry. Provide a general understanding of the basic industries based on petrochemicals, downstream industries. Create a real market environment via training in private and governmental sectors. Create a joint collaboration between the University and the industrial sectors.

Topics to be Covered 1st Midterm Exam Introduction Lectures (2) What is industrial chemistry; raw materials for the chemical process industries (Petroleum and its products, natural gas and biomass conversion), Industrial catalysis; Choice of catalysis, homogenous and heterogeneous catalysis. 2) Polymer industries Lectures (4) - Manufactured Textile Fibers (acrylic fibers, nylon fibers, and polyester fibers) - Synthetic Resins, Plastics, and Rubber. - The Chemistry of Structural Adhesives: Epoxy, Urethane, and Acrylic Adhesives. 1st Midterm Exam
