Buddhism Siddhartha Gautama is the founder

Siddhartha Gautama Adherence to the “Middle Path” or moderation Becomes the “Enlightened One” or Buddha after meditating to find the end of the world’s suffering

Four Noble Truths All life is full of suffering, pain, and sorrow. The heart of Buddhism belief All life is full of suffering, pain, and sorrow. The cause of suffering is desire. The only cure for suffering is to overcome desire The way to overcome desire is to follow the Eightfold Path.

Eightfold Path The way one curbs desire. Live a righteous life through: 1. views 2. aspirations 3. speech 4. conduct 5. livelihood 6. efforts 7. mindfulness 8. meditation

Basic Beliefs Buddhists don’t believe in any God-neither monotheistic or polytheistic Centers on the individual People should live life in moderation Find spiritual truth through self-discipline and selflessness Live a monastic lifestyle Believe in non-violence

Nirvana The ultimate reward Releases you from reincarnation When you achieve nirvana, you become one with the universe.
