What does this look like in by classroom? Level 1 Part 5 (17 minutes) Video – Inside Mathematics has several Public Lessons that provide Video of how the CCSS and the Practices for Mathematics can be used in a classroom. Select a Video to show that is appropriate for your audience. Then have teachers complete the following protocol. Teaching video clip: Watch a video clip of a teacher teaching. Journal: What strikes you about this video clip? Where did you see students actively engaged? Where did you see students thinking deeply? If you were to talk with this teacher, what would you want them to know? Small group conversation: In groups of 2-4, discuss what you observed during the video clip. Whole group share out: If time permits, popcorn out ideas learned during this protocol. It is recommended that you not have each small group report out.

Active Engagement – Kindergarten Sample Video from the Teaching Channel How as teachers can we apply the shifts to the classroom, by asking questions, and having the right tools being used with our students? Active Engagement – Kindergarten Sample PowerPoint OR Recording – Applying Shifts to the Classroom, asking questions, and not teaching the algorithm. Debriefing - partners and then whole group How did the lessons reflect the CCSS? What can I take from these videos to help me format lessons in a similar fashion? Debriefing - partners and then whole group Debrief: Leave time for the group to debrief! Suggested questions: “Was this useful for you?” “How did this lesson reflect the CCSS?” “How can your lessons be formatted in the same fashion?”

REFLECTION and GOAL-SETTING HOW DO I TEACH TO THIS? WHERE DO I BEGIN? (5 minutes) REFLECTION/GOAL-SETTING SHEET (3 minutes)
