GTR 15 Modifications for road load matrix family and default road load renault proposals

01 General requirements Road load matrix family vehicle definition 02 Annex 4 Wind tunnel for road load matrix family 03 Annex 6 CO2 interpolation range for default road load

General requirements Road load matrix family vehicle definition 01

Road load matrix family 01 General requirements Road load matrix family Modification proposal to paragraph 5.8. 5.8 The road load matrix family may be applied for vehicles with a technically permissible maximum laden mass < 3 000 kg but designed for a technically permissible maximum laden mass ≥ 3 000 kg. Comment The modification clarify the “designed” word, illustrating that vehicle < 3 000 kg can be included in a RL matrix family if they are part of an interpolation family of vehicles ≥ 3 000 kg. This modification can reduce the test burden for e.g LCV with same power train and different maximum mass Since the RL matrix family degrade the CO2 results, there is not interest to exclude lighter vehicles

Annex 4 Wind tunnel for road load matrix family 02

Wind tunnel for road load matrix family 02 annex 4 Wind tunnel for road load matrix family Modification proposal of paragraph 5.1. of Annex 4 5. Method for the calculation of road load or running resistance based on vehicle parameters 5.1. Calculation of road load and running resistance for vehicles based on a representative vehicle of a road load matrix family If the road load of the representative vehicle is determined according to a coastdown method described in paragraph 4.3. of this annex or wind tunnel method described in paragraph 6 of this annex, the road load of an individual vehicle shall be calculated according to paragraph 5.1.1. of this annex. Comment This modification allow to use the wind tunnel method to test the Representative Vehicle in case of road load matrix family as long as facilities are approved according paragraph 6.2. This modification can reduce the test burden reducing road test to evaluate the road load. This change doesn’t have benefic impacts on the CO2 emission of the family

Annex 6 CO2 interpolation range for default road load 03

CO2 interpolation range for default road load 03 annex 6 CO2 interpolation range for default road load Modification proposal of paragraph 2.3.2.2. of Annex 6 2.3.2.2. The maximum delta CO2 allowed over the applicable cycle resulting from step 9 of Table A7/1 of Annex 7 between test vehicles L and H is 20 per cent plus 5 g/km of the CO2 emissions from vehicle H, but at least 15 g/km and not exceeding 30 g/km. This restriction does not apply for the application of a road load matrix family or where vehicle L and H are based on default road load. Comment The maximum delta CO2 is not applicable to an Interpolation family based on a default road load. This modification can reduce the test burden especially for vehicles with different body shapes, sold in small series. This change doesn’t have benefic impacts on the CO2 emission of the family

Road load matrix family 01 General requirements Road load matrix family Modification proposal to paragraph 5.8. Option 2: 5.8 The road load matrix family may be applied for vehicles designed for with a technically permissible maximum laden mass ≥ 3 000 kg. Vehicles that belong to with a lower permissible laden mass can be part of a road load matrix family if they belong part of the same interpolation family. Comment The modification clarify the “designed” word, illustrating that vehicle < 3 000 kg can be included in a RL matrix family if they are part of an interpolation family of vehicles ≥ 3 000 kg. This modification can reduce the test burden for vehicles produced in small series (e.g. LCV) Since the RL matrix family degrade the CO2 results, there is not interest to exclude lighter vehicles

Default road load for road load matrix family 03 annex 4 Default road load for road load matrix family Modification proposal of paragraph 5.1. of Annex 4 Option 2 5. Method for the calculation of road load or running resistance based on vehicle parameters 5.1. Calculation of road load and running resistance for vehicles based on a representative vehicle of a road load matrix family If the road load of the representative vehicle is determined according to a coastdown method described in paragraph 4.3. of this annex or wind tunnel method described in paragraph 6 of this annex or default road load in paragraph 5.2 of this annex, the road load of an individual vehicle shall be calculated according to paragraph 5.1.1. of this annex. Comment This modification need the knowledge the Cd of the representative vehicle. This information is normally not known for vehicles that use the default road load.
