Business Services Unit (BSU) Changes Being Made: Accomplishments: Formalized Training Program Director of BSU Hired BSU Organizational Restructure Cohesive Business Unit Supervision of the Business Employment Consultants (BEC) Implementation of data tracking tool for BEC’s activities Increased focus on labor market information Weekly BEC team calls In A Year… To Sustain the Changes Additional BEC’s will be in place for better coverage across the state Data will be used to monitor the placement of BEC’s across the state Ongoing BEC training after onboarding Ensure training availability for increased professional growth Measurable increase of business engagement and employer relations Develop strategies for ensuring business and employer needs focus BEC’s and VR staff will have better understanding of roles and expectations Processes developed to ensure appropriate referrals to BEC’s Signed into law in July 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. States must select two of three approaches described in the WIOA joint regulations to measure WIOA "core programs" Effectiveness in Serving Employers. Retention with the Same Employer, Repeat Business Customer, and Employer Penetration Rate
