Welcome!!! Hi, everyone! Welcome to the first HOSA meeting of the 2018-2019 school year. Please find a seat towards the front and leave room in the back for freshmen who arrive late. We will begin shortly!

What is HOSA? Future Health Professionals: Mission: Promote healthcare professions Recognize students that have interests in pursuing health careers Enhance the future quality of healthcare HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

Point System 5 points per meeting 5 points per small groups 4 points per item brought during collections (max of 20 points) Competition Participation: Online Testing: 10 points Area: 15 points State: 20 points Nationals: not applicable- summer Why do we need points? Need 50 points to be in good standing Need 60 points for senior cords (3 different methods) Need 70 points to be considered for an officer position next year

What it takes to become a member Nurse Benny in the Jr/Sr. clinic has registration forms, and if you cannot get one from him, you can pick one up from us at the end of the meeting. Dues and forms will NOT be collected past October 17th $30 include: National HOSA: $10 Texas HOSA: $15 Allen HS HOSA: $5 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEMBERSHIP DUES INCLUDE A HOSA T-SHIRT! We expect our members to follow the new Academic Honor Code: failure to do so through Tier 2 or 3 violations will result in expulsion from the club. Tier 1 violations will be reviewed by the board.

Monthly Collections Every month we take donations They are NOT mandatory, although we do award points Partner with clubs to donate tons of items to help our community. Last year in December, we collected over 600 bars of soap in partnership with Red Cross

Speaking of Partnering with Clubs... We love to work with other clubs for a variety of different causes. Here’s a few different one’s we’re promoting: NHS! Red Cross - Sign up for the blood drive! Student Council - Meetings every other Monday Eagle Tutors GSA - Join the Remind 101 - text @ahsgsa2018 to 81010 Science Club - Join the Remind 101 @kulkarnisc - meet every other Tuesday after school in G141 Bollywood Dance Club UNICEF Blanket Buddies - Join the Remind 101- text @100blanket to 81010 If anyone in the audience is part of another club and would like to work with HOSA please let us know!

Competition We are having competition this year! If you are interested in competition, please let us know on your membership form. We will contact you about competition at a future date.

Send a design of the word “HOSA” through remind or DM us on Twitter and you will vote on which one goes on the 2018-2019 Shirt!
