Dominant & Recessive Notes

What does it mean to be a dominant trait? Dominant traits will always overpower a recessive gene. Only one dominant trait needs to be present to be seen. Dominant traits are represented by CAPITAL LETTERS What does it mean to be a dominant trait?

What does it mean to be a recessive trait? Recessive traits will only be shown if there is no dominant gene present. Therefore, two recessive traits must be inherited to be seen Recessive traits are represented by lowercase letters

Dominant or Recessive? Dominant= Brown Hair Recessive= Red Hair BB Hh dd NN LL ff Aa Tt cc Jj DOMINANT Brown Hair DOMINANT Brown Hair recessive Red Hair DOMINANT Brown Hair recessive Red Hair DOMINANT Brown Hair DOMINANT Brown Hair DOMINANT Brown Hair recessive Red Hair DOMINANT Brown Hair

Processing Questions: WRITE THE QUESTION. When are dominant traits expressed or shown? When are recessive traits expressed or shown? Complete the following Punnett Square B b b b
