Types of Thrillers a.k.a sub genres Thrillers are categorized by the moods they elicit, they can give the audience heightened moods of surprise, anxiety, fear etc. They are called sub genres. Some thriller sub-genres include; Action thrillers Psychological thrillers Drama thrillers Crime thrillers Film noir thrillers

Action Thrillers In this genre, the protagonist would confront dangerous enemies, obstacles, or situations which he/she must conquer, normally in an action setting. Characters, either by accident or their own curiousness, are dragged into a dangerous conflict or situation that they are not prepared to resolve. Characters are not reliant on physical strength to overcome their brutish enemies, but rather are reliant on their mental resources. This subgenre usually has elements of drama, as there is an in-depth characters who must deal with emotional struggles. Psychological thrillers include : Donnie Darko Inception Black Swan Gone Girl

Horror Thrillers Horror Thriller: Type of film that blends the horror and thriller genres: focusing on suspense, tension and adrenaline while having an emphasis on fear, terror.
