Summary: The crowds that hailed Jesus had not all seen His miracles, but had heard of them. People testified about what they had seen Jesus do. The rulers were hostile to Jesus and Lazarus. DO you suppose they were happy to hear of all of these people testifying about Jesus? Even as Jesus summons the colt, He shows His omniscience and omnipotence. Consider the tremendous show of affection as people put their CLOTHES in the STREETS of Jerusalem. This was most unusual and a tremendous display of respect. Jesus didn’t ride in on a white charger, but on a baby donkey. Humble. Yet Jesus did not forbid the Truth from being told by the crowds. The leaders were exasperated, but had already decided to murder Jesus AND Lazarus.

Summary: Mary anointed Jesus’ head and feet with very costly oil, and wiped His feet with her hair. Was this expensive for her? Was this truly an act of humility in a public setting (someone else’s house)? Did her actions invoke the anger of some of the disciples? Jesus said that Mary did this for Him, in preparing Him for burial. Jesus said this would be a memorial to HER. Jesus knew that the Gospel would be preached throughout the “whole world.” Judas’ acts are mentioned throughout the whole world as a memorial to him in a sense. How do we want to be remembered? Our actions are emblazoned into the Book. When did we see You hungry or thirsty? It’s how we treat God’s children here & now.
