What is a thesis statement? A summary sentence that supports your whole argument The LAST sentence in the introduction paragraph

How Do I Write/Create a Thesis Statement? Restate the question in the prompt to begin the statement Answer the question with three reasons

A strong, Effective Thesis statement will... A strong thesis takes some sort of stand. (gives your argument.) A strong thesis expresses a main idea and is specific with 2-3 reasons

Example Question: What are the potential benefits of every student having a computer in classrooms? Answer/THESIS: “The potential benefits of every student having a computer in the classroom include increased motivation, easier access to information and better organization.

Another Example Question: Should middle schools serve soda at lunch? Answer: Middle Schools should not serve soda at lunch because of soda’s high sugar content which contributes to poor nutrition, and bad behavior in class.

So to recap...Writing a thesis requires me to Read the question (prompt). Figure out My argument. Decide my 2-3 reasons to support my opinion. Write the thesis statement that answers the question by restating the question. Include The 2-3 reasons to finish the thesis. Avoid using “I” or “We” in your thesis
