All About Sound You will find vocabulary for your sound investigation by completing this slide show.

sound: energy that we hear That old car is making a loud and strange sound.

vibration: happens when there is a rapid back and forth or up and down motion. When I pluck the rubber band, I can see the vibrations.

pitch: how low or high a sound is When a mouse squeaks the pitch is high, but when a lion roars the pitch is low.

volume: how loud or soft a sound is You can turn the volume up or down when you listen to the radio.

ears: the parts of our body through which we hear sounds. Vibrations pass through our ears to help us hear the sounds all around.
