SETTING A COURSE FOR ADVENTURE Some kids avoid obstacles. Scouts overcome them. Scouts BSA is a year-round program for boys and girls grades 5-12 that provides fun, adventure, learning, and challenges to help them become the best version of themselves.

SETTING A COURSE FOR ADVENTURE Scouts BSA is designed to be experienced outdoors but also has a STEM component to encourage the natural curiosity and sense of wonder of youth members. There is something for everyone in Scouting!

ADVENTURE CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME SCOUTING BUILDS Scouts BSA is an introduction to the great outdoors for boys and girls ages 11-17 and, most important, a lesson about their place in it.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME SCOUTING BUILDS CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Scouting builds leaders. Scouts serve on the boards of global corporations, walk the halls of the White House, and have been known to go hiking on the moon occasionally.

14 SERVICE CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME SCOUTING BUILDS CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME SERVICE The Scout slogan is Do a Good Turn Daily. That means doing something to help others each day without expecting anything in return. 14 MILLION HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE* *Average number of hours performed by scouts per year over last five years.

PERSONAL GROWTH CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME SCOUTING BUILDS CHARACTER AND INSTILLS VALUES FOR A LIFETIME PERSONAL GROWTH As Scouts plan activities, participate in community service projects, do their daily good turn, and progress toward goals, they experience personal growth.

SCOUT TROOPS WHETHER LED BY GIRLS OR BOYS, SCOUTS RUN THE SHOW Troops are single gender, and the young men and women in them are responsible for the activities of the troop. By planning and organizing activities, they learn how to lead as well as how to follow.

RANK ADVANCEMENT Scouts BSA provides a series of challenging but achievable obstacles and the steps to overcome them through the rank advancement method. Rank advancement is one method used by Scout leaders to help young men and women fulfill the aims of Scouting: CHARACTER FITNESS CITIZENSHIP LEADERSHIP

MERIT BADGES Earning merit badges gives Scouts the opportunity to learn essential life skills and to gain real-world knowledge in more than 130 different areas from American Business to Wilderness Survival. 2.1 MILLION MERIT BADGES *Average number of merit badges earned by Scouts per year over last five years

EAGLE SCOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN Service, community engagement, and leadership development are integral parts of earning Scouting’s highest rank. Eagle Scouts are more likely to volunteer, donate money to charity, vote, and work with others to improve their neighborhood than non-Eagle Scouts
