Agenda: Class Discussion: What do historians do? Share 5 events Begin Timelines If time: Begin title page

Turn and Talk! What do historians do?

What do historians do? Historians… Look at primary and secondary sources and ask questions.

Think like a historian… What do you see, what does it say? What time period is it from? What can it tell us about history?

Practice with a primary source! What do you see, what does it say? What time period is it from? What can it tell us about history?

Line up by hair length! WITHOUT TALKING line up by hair length…people with the longest hair in the front, shortest hair in the back! Partner up with the person standing next to you and share your five events!

Create a timeline of your life: Using your 5 events, create an illustrated timeline of your life. Each event should have: Date Heading Key phrase: What happened? Why was this important?

Create a timeline of your life: Place your ruler on the black line Every 2 centimeters, make a mark with your pencil Each line will represent one year The large black line on the left will represent the year 2004.

Title Page (Pages 3 & 4!): Create a title page for your Interactive Notebook. A title page is like the cover of a book—it should show the reader what the book will be about and spark their interest in the topic. Create a title page about AMERICAN HISTORY. Draw pictures, symbols, etc. to demonstrate what YOU know about American History. Take your time, be thorough, detailed, and creative.  Include: A Title Pictures/symbols/designs to show what YOU know about American History (anything!)
