School Development Plan 2018 to 2019 St John’s CEP School Development Plan: Summary Development Area: Detail of Development: Teaching Learning & Assessment & Pupil Outcomes Develop the English Curriculum in KS1, focusing on Phonics & Writing: To ensure consistent & high quality approaches to the teaching of phonics in Year 1 & throughout Key Stage 1; To examine the teaching of writing in Key Stage 1 & develop a more systematic approach to the teaching of writing; To review and monitor the teaching of reading, to ensure progression and challenge for all pupils and to support teachers in this by delivering training and INSET on the teaching of reading; To continue to develop our Maths provision for all pupils: To review and monitor the use of practical resources in maths lessons to ensure that children have a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts; To continue to develop Maths Mastery skills throughout the school & to raise achievement & progress in this area; To examine and utilise the Singapore Maths scheme (in Year 1) and plan for how it could be used alongside our current Collins maths scheme. To continue to raise progress and attainment in Maths in KS1; General Curriculum Standards: To review the homework policy, in order to ensure consistency across all year groups and that homework activities contribute meaningfully to pupil progress; To ensure that the new marking and feedback policy is implemented correctly and consistently throughout the school; To introduce a new ‘Topic Book’ to ensure that children’s writing is of the highest standard in all curriculum subjects; Accelerate the progress of disadvantaged & SEN children. Leadership & Management To develop the role of subject co-ordinators; To ensure Middle Leaders have a good understanding of the data of different groups of learners; To continue to improve the infrastructure of the school in order to reduce time consuming admin tasks and allow teachers to use their time more effectively to plan engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons. TA Development and Interventions To continue to develop the role of Learning Assistants in the classroom; To ensure that teachers are planning differentiated activities to enable children with SEN to carry out tasks independently; Increase and develop interventions throughout the school, ensuring a consistency and higher achievement for SEN pupils. School Infrastructure Invest in improved ICT/Computing and data infrastructure which includes: improved wifi and telephone system and associated cabling and networks, improved network photocopying systems, improved network printer SIMS Parents Evening app, SIMS Agora, MyConcern, Parent Pay and online date calendar.
