Current status Education is an important topic but not a priority for policy institutions The training curricula offer little material on security management The comparative overview is even more limited Bilateral and multilateral coordination poorly integrated

Needs Greater institutional specialization Diversity and broadening of roles Requirement at the level of the civil world as well More complex analysis of crime Regionalization of the problems Upgrading of government that has not directly affected these areas

Current supply Supply identified in various countries of the hemisphere Need focus on shared view and inclusion of civilians Available high-quality infrastructure Participation of universities, research centers, and international organizations

Proposal for basic content Crime and violence: new approaches for understanding the problem Crime policy and institutional coordination Public and citizen security: perspectives and changes Rule of law and police Police management Information systems for policy definition Transparency and accountability in police action New approaches in police action Risk management Teamwork strategies Leadership Media relations

How to implement it?
