Black Holes

Starter His clip is about a man finding a black hole Watch the following video clip what is wrong with the science

Key Reasons Photon sphere Time dilation Gamma ray emissions Very low escape velocity required Very light (surely a black hole would be very dense)

New Scientist Article Discuss in pairs What do you think of the article? What do you think of the title? Why is it written in an informal style? What is the audience for New Scientist?

Report time - Divide the class into three teams, and assign each team to research one of the black-hole types discussed above. - You will prepare a presentation based on research, which should include the following: characteristics of the type of black hole lifetime of the type of black hole locations (or suspected locations) of the type of black hole evidence for existence of the type of black hole Keep track of the sources for your facts so that you and others can go back to those sources for further information. Include visuals in their reports.

Evaluation You can evaluate each group’s written product using the following three-point rubric: Three points: report well-researched, information clearly and logically organized, presentation interesting and lively Two points: report adequately researched, information sufficiently organized, presentation dull One point: report insufficiently researched, information inadequately organized, presentation poorly prepared
