Quiz Monday In triangle ABC, the degree of angle A is 20o greater than the degree measure of angle B. Angle C is a right angle. Calculate the measure of angle B.

What is the measure of angle B? I triangle ABC, the degree of angle A is 20o greater than the degree measure of angle B. Angle C is a right angle. Calculate the measure of angle B. What is the measure of angle B? Triangle A = 20o > B C = 90o Since a triangle has 180 degrees, I subtracted the angle I knew from 180. I split the remainder evenly between the other two angles. Since angle A is larger than angle B by 20 degrees, I split the difference and added the extra 10 to A. I subtracted the 10 from B. I added the three angles together to check my answer. The measure of angle B is 35 degrees. 5 5

Quiz Tuesday Antonio and his two brothers equally shared the cost of a new TV with a list price of $750. They received a 30% discount off the list price and paid 8.25% sales tax on the discounted price. Find the approximate amount that each of the 3 brothers paid toward the cost of the TV.

How much will each person pay? Antonio and his two brothers equally shared the cost of a new TV with a list price of $750. They received a 30% discount off the list price and paid 8.25% sales tax on the discounted price. Find the approximate amount that each of the 3 brothers paid toward the cost of the TV. How much will each person pay? 3 people split cost $750 original price 30% off 8.25% tax Approximate To find the sales price, I multiplied the original cost by the percent actually paid (after converting to a decimal). To find the tax, I multiplied the tax percent and 100% of the cost by the sales price. To find the approximate cost for each, I divided the amount by 3 (after I rounded). Each person will pay $190. 9 9

A bag contains 10 red tiles, 5 green tiles, and 4 blue tiles. Write a ratio comparing red tiles to the total # of tiles. 2. Write a ratio comparing the number of non-red tiles to the total # of tiles. 10

Quiz Thursday Two prisms are similar. The scale factor is 1/3. The volume of the larger prism is 81 cm3. Calculate the volume of the smaller prism. 12 12

What is the volume of the new prism? Two prisms are similar. The scale factor is 1/3. The volume of the larger prism is 81 cm3. Calculate the volume of the smaller prism. Reduction Scale factor: 1/3 Large volume = 81 cubic cm What is the volume of the new prism? I found the scale factor of the volumes by cubing the original scale factor. I used the scale factor of the volumes to set up a proportion with the known volume. Since the scale factor is less than 1, I knew we went from large to small. I solved the proportion by multiplying by 3 to get the volume of the smaller prism. The volume of the smaller prism is 3 cubic centimeters. 13 13

Bell Ringer Friday A bag contains 10 red tiles, 5 green tiles, 3 purple tiles, and 4 blue tiles. What is the probability a red tile will be randomly picked from the bag? What is the probability a green or blue tile will be randomly picked from the bag? What is the probability a yellow tile will be randomly picked from the bag? Calculate the mean. Calculate the range.

Quiz Friday Which ball should you add so that the probability of drawing the color is 1/3 ?

Which ball gives a probability of 1/3? Which ball should you add so that the probability of drawing the color is 1/3 ? 11 balls Add 1 ball 5 green 3 blue 2 pink 1 yellow Which ball gives a probability of 1/3? There were eleven balls. If one more ball is added there will be twelve balls. I need a probability of 1/3. A probability of 4/12 will reduce to 1/3. I added one ball to every color. I needed a color that would have 4 balls. The blue ball give a probability of 1/3. 21
