Lacey Act of 1900 Drafted in 1900 by President McKinley Amended in 2008 to diversely expand protection National Act in the United States United States Fish and Wildlife Services is responsible for regulation and enforcement of The Lacey Act

Function of The Lacey Act The Lacey Act is law in the U.S. regarding conservation that prohibits importing, exporting, selling, or purchasing wildlife, plants, and fish that have been legally taken, possessed, sold, or transported In 2008 the Act became more diverse in prohibiting imports from illegally logged woods It became the first federal law protecting wildlife If there is illegal trade of animals and plant, this act will hold criminal punishment Today, the Lacey Act controls the import of any species protected by laws which leads to less invasive species
