Examining “Pleasure” Pleasure: “1. The state or feeling of being pleased, 2. Enjoyment or satisfaction derived from what is to ones liking; gratification; delight” (R.H.C.D., p. 1019). There are three Greek nouns and one adjective rendered “pleasure” in our English translations. One noun of interest is, hedone (the e is pronounced as a long “a” and the accent is over the third syllable). An English word (adjective) that suggests extreme pleasure or given to pleasure is “hedonic,” point out derivation.
