“I’m Henry VIII I am, Henry VIII I am, I am” Henry VIII – Catholic king of England Married 6 times! Married to Catherine of Aragon, had 6 children only 1 survived (Mary). Wanted a male heir to the throne. and a divorce

Anne Boleyn 2nd wife of Henry VIII Henry VIII asked the pope for a divorce, when he refused he convinced Parliament to break with Rome. Anne gives birth to princess Elizabeth; no male heir. Anne is beheaded for treason.

Jane Seymour, 3rd wife FINALLY, a son is born, Edward VI. She died 2 weeks after his birth in 1537. Upon Henry’s death Edward will become king (at age 9).

Edward VI, the only son PROTESTANT king Becomes King upon his father’s death in 1547. A nine year old king with a very active governing council making decisions for him. Dies in 1553 at age 15.

Queen Mary (Bloody Mary) CATHOLIC daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon Tries to rid England of all Protestants and restore Catholicism to England. Nicknamed “Bloody Mary” due to her persecution of Protestants. Dies with NO heir whatsoever leaving ½ sister Elizabeth the throne.

Elizabeth I Daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. PROTESTANT queen of England. Promotes religious toleration among her people. Never marries! Instead, marries England and its people. “I am no man’s Elizabeth!”
