His parents did not take good care of him and he got bullied on the streets a lot. At age 14 he ran away from home. In the book I read, I learned how hard his life was when he was little and how his love of dogs helped him out. The dogs that he meet had a big impact on his life, so I could see how his relationship with dogs help him in life and that is how he writes those great stories.
