WHY CREATE A DEVELOPMENT PLAN? 'Action without vision is only passing time, vision without action is merely day dreaming, but vision with action can change the world‘ NELSON MANDELA Make the most of what we have within the club (people, money, assets) Improving sustainability of the club (volunteer network) Professional approach to development of the club Moving forward together — Shared vision (everyone on the same page)

PHILOSOPHY VISION Outlines the club's future destination. Statement that looks ahead to where the club wants to be MISSION Outlines what you need to do to achieve your vision. The journey rather than the destination VALUES What values shape your club culture and philosophy

VISION What do we want to achieve in the future? What does success look like to our club? How are we going to get there? Set objectives in order of priority Use SMARTER principles: - SPECIFIC - MEASURABLE - AGREED - REALISTIC - TIME BOUND/TOWARDS - EXCITING/ENJOYABLE/ETHICAL - RECORDABLE/REVISABLE What are our strengths as a club? Where will we be in 1, 5, 10 years?

MISSION What will make our vision reality? Where will the focus be? What will our plan look like? Ensuring it's a Working Document - Ingrained in everything we do - Drive the club - Drives agendas at committee level - Part of club daily life - Should be flexible to allow for new opportunities Who is involved in the process?
