Who is in ESL? Students enter the ESL program following a careful evaluation of their language skills. Anyone who speaks another language at home may be in ESL.They are placed at either: Beginner level – 3 periods per day Intermediate level– 2 periods Advanced level – 1 period 12/4/2018

What do students do in ESL? All ESL students learn to improve their listening and speaking skills, vocabulary and grammar, reading and writing. They also receive assistance with other class assignments. For example, the ESL teacher may help them understand a worksheet for a science class. 12/4/2018

Tell me More! Students can take other class tests in the ESL room, using a dictionary. The teacher may read the test aloud and explain the questions. 12/4/2018

American Culture ESL students learn about American culture, customs,holidays,traditions. They have opportunities to discuss differences with their own cultures. 12/4/2018

How can Parents Help? Listen to your child when he/she wants to talk about school. Ask questions and show interest Encourage your child to make friends and participate in all school activities Call the teachers if you have concerns or questions 12/4/2018
