History Founded in 1953 named Insta-Burger King David Edgerton and James McLamore purchased the company in 1954 and renamed it Burger King The first whopper was sold in 1957 Pillsbury Company bought the company in 1967 The first drive-in was established in 1975 In 1976 Burger King came to Europe The Texas Pacific Group bought the company in 2002 for 1,5 Billion US-Dollar 3G Capital bought it for 4 Billion US-Dollar in 2010
