What does Geography mean? Geo- Earth Graphy- The study of The scientific study of the Earth's surface and its various climates, countries, peoples, and natural resources. The physical characteristics, especially the surface features, of an area.

5 parts to Geography

Location Absolute Location- longitude and latitude (GPS coordinates) Relative Location- describes where a certain area is in relation to another area What is your relative position in the Junior High? Room 215, Mr. Dexter’s room, 2nd floor of MHJH

Place Physical Characteristics Human Characteristics Plants, animals, weather and anything that makes it different than other places. Example- Mountain Home has a consistent air flow Human Characteristics Diversity, language, architecture, arts and anything that applies to the human side of the place Example- Mountain Home has a military influence because of the MHAFB
