Chapters 6 and 7 The Death March

Survivors of a Death March

Writing Assignment Place yourself in the shoes of Shlomo Wiesel (Elie’s father). Write a one page letter to your son that shows what you thought and felt upon your arrival at the entrance of Buchenwald. How do you feel physically? Emotionally? What is your greatest fear? What words of advice do you have for your son? Think about word choices you could use to express the appropriate mood and tone.

Critical Analysis Now that you’ve completed the novel, think about the significance of the title of the novel. Why do you feel Night is an appropriate title for this memoir? (Or why do you feel it’s an inappropriate title?) Be sure to provide at least THREE specific reasons for your position.
