Calico Jack (Jack Rackham) By: Alex Pack and Aimee Dion

Basic information Calico Jack was born in Bristol England on December 21, 1682 and lived until 1720 He received his name due to the colorful and interesting clothing he wore.

His story Jack started his pirating career as a Quartermaster (higher up ordering position) on an English warship. He stayed in this position until the captain, Charles Vane was mutinied against and Jack was appointed as captain. This switch put him in charge of his very first ship, the Neptune. In 1719, Calico Jack began running out of money. So he attacked another chip called “The William” and took control. With the new ship, he attacked other small vessels in Cuba, Hispaniola, and Bermuda

(Calico Jack, Anne Bonny, Mary Read)

Connection to other Pirates Both Anne Bonny and Mary read were a part of Calico Jack’s crew. Anne Bonny was originally married to James Bonny but she fell in love with Jack. When she was found later, she was whipped for adultery.
