Agree/Disagree Essay Paragraphs & Language

Verbs? Agree Disagree Believe Think Should

Introduction Around 3 sentences Background Thesis part 1 (opinion): I dis/agree… Thesis part 2 (statement): # reasons

Introduction Language Physical fitness is very important for the mind as well as the body. Therefore, university students should play sport as a part of their university program. Do you agree or disagree with this idea? Many older people have health problems today because they did no exercise when they were young. Today, students have the chance to exercise at university, but often they do not. Therefore, I agree that sport and exercise should be part of all university programs for three main reasons.

Body Paragraphs: How many? 2 2 reasons you agree with the topic OR 2 reasons you disagree with the topic

Inside Body Paragraphs? give your reason (topic sentence) explain your reason (What? Why? Where? When? How?) give examples

Transitions between body paragraphs? The first reason The main/most important reason One reason The second reason Another reason is sports and exercise have many social benefits.

Example Body Paragraphs One reason I agree is that students most students do not balance their time well. Some study all the time and never relax, while some relax all the time and never do any activity. If sports and exercise are part of the university program, then all students will be doing something beneficial with their time. The main reason I agree with this idea is students can learn skills which they can then use all their lives. These activities can become enjoyable hobbies, for example swimming, tennis and golf, which can also help them to stay healthy. They can also teach these skills to their own children. Another reason is sports and exercise have many social benefits. Young people can make new friends and also learn how to do things together as part of a team. This can be very useful later in life, especially at work.

Conclusion Parts? The conclusion (3-4 sentences) includes all or some of the following: a summary of the main points (in different words) some advice or some suggestions about the topic what might happen in the future if……./if not……

Conclusion In conclusion In summary To conclude To summarize

Conclusion In conclusion, physical activity should be a required part of university programs. Students can use their time better, there are social benefits, and they can learn skills. I advise the university to require students to do these healthy and enjoyable activities.
