Percorso gastronomico e turistico passeggiando tra regioni italiane

Italy Tourists come to Italy because it is rich in art, architecture and history. There are many differences among the regions but the rich cultural heritage unifies them. Il Belpaese, as Italy is often referred to, offers excellent food and wine, beautiful landescape, ideal climate and a wide choice of accommodation. Tourists can visit art cities, try their hands at pottery or blowing glass, learn Italian, look after their body and soul in the spas and do a wide variety of sports activities.

Northeast Italy is an enchanting area to explore thanks to the variety of attractions and resorts it offers. The landscape is characterized by the snowcapped Dolomites and modern skiing resorts. The Basilica di San Marco is a beautiful church located in Venice which was built in Byzantine style. The Arena di Verona is a splendid anphitheatre in Verona, the second biggest Roman amphitheatre in the world. Palazzo Ducale is a majestic building located in Venice considered a masterpiece of Venetian Ghotic architecture.

The Cappella degli Scrovegni is a spendid church situated in Padua which offers frescoes by Giotto. Castelvecchio is an impressive castle located in Verona which dating back to the 14 th century.

The northwest offers several beautiful sights: the high peaks of the Alps, habitat of rare flora and fauna, the low-lying areas of the Padana Plain and the undulating shoreline of the Mediterranean Sea. The Duomo ofMilano is a great Gothic cathedral located in the centre of the city. The Mole Antonelliana located in Turin is considered as the eiffel tower. The Certosa is a monastery in Pavia which includes a church with a magnificent Renaissance facade.

Tuscany is dominated by the city of Florence, considered the cradle of Renaissance art and culture, with outstanding palaces and museums. This area includes: Pisa with leaning tower famous in the world. Siena with Piazza del Campo is one of Europes greates medieval squares. Florence : Florence's most famous square is Piazza della Signoria, the heart of the historic center and a free open-air sculpture exhibit. The Loggia della Signoria holds some important statues including a copy of Michelangelos David. The piazza has been Florence's political center since the middle ages and Florence's town hall, the medieval Palazzo Vecchio, sits on the piazza. The palazzo contains elaborately decorated public rooms and private apartments that can be visited. Around the piazza are cafes and restaurants.

Gubbio offers consuls palace which was built by Gattapone. Assisi with Basilica di San Francesco wich offers beautiful frescoes by Giotto Perugia boasts the beautiful Fontana Maggiore stands in the main square. This 13th C fountain contains reliefs by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano. Orvieto houses the Orvieto Cathedral is one of the city's top tourist destinations. Completed in the late 13th C.

Museo archeologico Nazionale is a famous museum located in Naples which home to remains of Pompei. Mount Vesuvius is the classic symbol of the magic Neapolitan landscape overlooking the stunning sea of this beloved and dreamt peace of gulf, is one of the smallest active volcanoes in the world. A trullo is a simple dry-stone- walled building with a domed roof topped by a cone located in Apulia. They are dotted around the green Valle d'Itria, and in Alberobello the town's large clusters of white- washed trulli create an unusual and memorable scene.

Sardinia is located to the west of Italy and is surrounded by the Mediterranean sea. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot but windy summers and mild winters. The landscape is characterized by a beautiful and varied coastline and an unspoilt sea. In the north the coastline is rocky while in the south is low and sandy. Among the principal tourist sights are the Maddalena Island and the Costa Smeralda. In the center there are majestic mountains such as di Punta La Marmora and Bruncu Spina. The region is dotted with over 7,000 Nuraghe, cone- shaped buildings dating back to the Stone Age.

The Valley of the Temples is a beautiful archeological sight which contains the beast GreeK remains.

Cheese, salami, dried fruit and wines

The cheese most consumed is the Fontina Valdostana DOP; Typical dish of this region is the Fonduta, based on melted cheese; A wine to match is Valle dAosta wine.

Rice, beef, cheeses and wines

The most famous recipe is Brasato al Barolo; Barolo is a red wine DOCG that gives particular features to the dish.

Its the principal ingredient of Rice Milan style; a great match to this dish is the Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Nero wine.
