Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Introduction Shall provide a brief description of the area of research Explain what is the problem/problem under investigation Summarize the relevant research to provide context and concept

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Introduction Why is it important? Relevant research to provide rationale ( what are conflicts or un-answered questions, un-tested hypotheses, un-tried methods in your research etc). Think !!!!! Does your experimentation address these all?

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Review of Literature Show the work done previously in the area of proposed study. Remember Previous work is essential to plan your research. All information shall be supported by references.

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Justification & likely benefits Provide full justification to understand the proposed research. Predict the specific and general benefits to be achieved.

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Main Objectives of the study Broader objectives of the study shall be clearly mentioned in an itemized form. Objectives shall indicate major aspects of the study.

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Hypotheses of the study Give /write a statement which is to be tested for possible acceptance or rejection. Two types of Hypotheses: Null(Hₒ) Hypothesis Alternative (H1) Hypothesis Null Hypothesis (Hₒ) is tested for possible rejection. Alternative Hypothesis ( H1) is tested for possible acceptance.

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Plan of Work & Methodology Describe various aspects of the study in a logical sequence along with methodologies to be employed. Show that you have a good idea of the importance and the nature of work. Shall give source of data, sample size, types of analyses etc.

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Place of work and facilities available Specify the place/lab where the work/study shall be conducted.... Some specialized facilities may be required. References and Bibliography

Synopsis Writing (Conti...) Length of Synopsis A synopsis has to be concise with out any repetitions. Shall cover all aspects of the research. Shall give a clear understanding that the research involved has been clearly understood and well planed. Shall be of acceptable academic merit. Total length of a synopsis shall be in the range 1500 words (min) to 3500 words (max). However these limits may very depending on the type of work.
