Presentation transcript:

As hard as it may be to understand, Jesus Christ talked about money more than any other subject. He spent 15% of His Gospel conversations on it. That’s more than His discussions on faith, prayer, Heaven & Hell combined!

Truly I tell you, they have received Matthew 6: 2-4 2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Deuteronomy 15: 7-11

Proverbs 11: 24-25 24 “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. 25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Matthew 6: 19-21 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

It was a far better clue to what he thought Godfrey Davis, who wrote a biography about the Duke of Wellington, said, "I found an old account ledger that showed how the Duke spent his money. It was a far better clue to what he thought was really important than the reading of his letters or speeches."

“Take a look at your own heart, and you will soon find out what has stuck to it and where your treasure is. It is easy to determine whether hearing the Word of God, living according to it, and achieving such a life gives you as much enjoyment and calls forth as much diligence from you as does accumulating and saving money and property.” - Martin Luther

Matthew 6: 22-23 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are ‘good’, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are ‘bad’, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

Proverbs 22:9 Matthew 20:15 “A man [with a good eye] will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matthew 20:15 “Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or [is your eye evil] because I am generous?”

“The Good Eye” “Haplous” Translates to: Open-handed Clear Focused Simple Free

“The Bad Eye” “Poneros” Translates to: Close-fisted Hostile Jealous Stingy Grudging

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you never will I forsake you.”

2 Corinthians 9:11 “You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” “Limited Good” and the Mazatec Tribe

As we get ready to take today’s Offering, if God has been challenging you to trust Him more fully in the area of your finances so that you can better honor Him and walk a more blessed path… obey Him.
