GIFT OF GIVING CANNED FOOD DRIVE KICK OFF Learning Targets: I understand the purpose of Gift of Giving I can appreciate the significance of GIVING

GIFT OF GIVING Gift of Giving is a non-profit organization with the mission to support Avondale youth by providing: ​ ​​TEACHING CHILDREN THE Joy OF GIVING while providing nutrition, clothing, and other basic needs to those in need. What is GIFT OF GIVING’S PURPOSE? Gift of Giving works with the Avondale School District to identify areas of need for our students.  The organization works with community members, businesses, municipalities, churches and Avondale students to fulfill the needs identified.  Working together, we reach more people while reducing duplication of effort.

Create HOPE, LOVE, and JOY for over 600 Avondale students GIFT OF GIVING Together, they have provided services to over 1200 students in the last 3 years.  Services provided were school supplies, winter coats, winter boots, gloves, hats, clothes, pants, shoes, blankets, and food.     During the Holiday Drive in December, the Avondale Middle School Law & Leadership class, Avondale Junior National Honor Society, and Avondale High School Leadership classes have supported the Holiday Food Drive by collecting breakfast and lunch items for our students in the free and reduced lunch program.  Each qualified student was provided with 2 weeks of breakfast and lunch items over the holiday break which they would have normally received during the school days. GIFT OF GIVING Nov. 27-Dec 5th Food Drive in Round-Up Classrooms AMS Partners with Gift of Giving for Holiday Drive AMS is proud to partner with Gift of Giving to provide 600 Avondale School District children with food for the Holiday Break, Winter Clothing, and Toys for the Holiday Season. This combined effort at Avondale Middle School helps to teach our students about giving, service, and unity. We are encouraging all AMS families to help in some way. Here is a list of our events and activities. Time Line of Events Nov. 27-Dec 5th Food Drive in Round-Up Classrooms Students will bring in food items to Round Up classes to compete in grade level contests. AMS (Sponsored by Student Advisory Council)

AMS (Sponsored by Student Advisory Council) NJHS Gloves Drive National Junior Honor Society will participate in their annual Glove Drive providing winter mittens for the Gift of Giving Holiday Drive. (Mrs. Kopicki & Mrs. Nofs) NJHS Adopt-A-Child National Junior Honor Society will participate in their annual Adopt-A-Child Campaign that will help the Gift of Giving Holiday Drive provide winter clothing and toys for 600 children in the Avondale District. (Mrs. Kopicki & Mrs. Nofs)

PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO OUR FAMILIES IN NEED GIFT OF GIVING Nov. 29th Activity Night 6:30pm-8:00pm All proceeds will go to buying Winter Clothing and toys for Avondale children for the NJHS Adopt-A-Child Campaign. $5.00 tickets in advance will be sold at lunch or you can buy them at the door. Bring a can item and have your name entered into a drawing for various gift cards. (Sponsored by Student Advisory Council and Law and Leadership Class) Dec 5th Food Packing Day Student Advisory Students will pack food bags from 3:00-5:00 in Room 400. (Mrs. Gilbert) Dec 6th Train of Giving Assembly 8:00am-9:00am Round Up Representatives will deliver packed bags to the Gym to travel with SAC Reps who will be going to the Board Office to help pack 363 bags of food.
