Welcome to Truman State University Introduction Slides! Welcome to Truman State University International Student Pre-Arrival Orientation– U.S. Laws: What you need to know Fall 2015

U.S. Laws – Breaking any of these laws is taken extremely seriously and can result in you losing your legal permission to remain in the United States! All persons present in the United States are subject to the laws of the United States. This means that you must follow all of the laws, even if they seem very strange or stupid to you. One of the requirements for maintaining your legal status in the United States is to follow all of the laws.

U.S. Laws – Breaking any of these laws is taken extremely seriously and can result in you losing your legal permission to remain in the United States! Drinking – there is no alcohol allowed anywhere on Truman’s campus, including the residence halls. You must be 21 to legally drink alcohol. If you are caught drinking under the age of 21, or providing alcohol to underage people, you will face very serious legal consequences. Drinking alcohol in a vehicle or a public space is not permitted. You cannot walk down the street with a drink . Drug use is not permitted, especially in the residence halls Never drive while drunk or high. You will face time in jail, lose your license, and could face removal from the United States.

U.S. Laws – Breaking any of these laws is taken extremely seriously and can result in you losing your legal permission to remain in the United States! Marijuana is illegal in the State of Missouri. Being caught with it will result in expensive fines and possible jail time. It is against the law for anyone over the age of 18 to have sexual relations with anyone under the age of 18. This is automatically considered rape and will result in jail time. By law you must always wear a seatbelt while driving and have a valid license. Breaking these laws results in expensive fines. Weapons (or anything that looks like a weapon) are not permitted on Truman’s campus. Traffic signs are not decorative! It is important to follow traffic rules at all times.
