DIODES WHAT’S A DIODES HOW CAN YOU USE DIODES SOME EXAMPLE DIODE CIRCUITS

WHAT’S A DIODE The diode is a passive electronic component non-linear,two-terminal (bipolar), that allows the flow of electric current only in one direction.

For these proprieties the diodes is called rectifier

A diode’s I–V characteristic can be approximated by four regions of operation (see the next figure).

CIRCUIT SYMBOL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS

TYPES OF DIODES THERE ARE MANY DIODES: ZENER SCHOTTKY VARICAP LED

Zener diodes Diodes that can be made to conduct backwards. This effect, called Zener breakdown, occurs at a precisely defined voltage, allowing the diode to be used as a precision voltage reference

LED A light-emitting diode (LED)is an electronic light source. LEDs are based on the semiconductor diode.
