SELF-ESTEEM Self-Esteem: a person’s belief about his/her worth. Positive – is a person’s belief that (s)he is worthy and deserves respect. Negative – is a person’s belief that (s)he is not worthy and does not deserve respect. Our self-esteem can be shaped by our environment.

EVALUATE OWN BELIEFS It is important to always tell the truth Sometimes it is best to lie It is important to consider others before acting I must always protect my interests It is important to follow all rules Some rules were made to be broken It is important to respect authority No one can tell me what to do I take responsibility for my actions Others influence my choices and I use them for reasons for my actions

SELF-RESPECT Do you respect yourself? Do you respect others? Pay attention to your appearance Mentally decide what is important to you and keep reviewing them Being okay with being alone at times Express your feelings Spend time with your family Care for other people the way you would want them to care for you

CHARACTER To posses good character your actions must reflect responsible values. To improve self-esteem your belief statements must be responsible. Make a character check to determine if your actions reflect your beliefs Control the messages you are sending yourself Make choices that positively influence your self- respect
