The Boy in the Striped Pajamas By John Boyne

Setting Opening setting is in Berlin, Germany Year is 1942 during World War II Story setting changes to an Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland

Main Characters Bruno- nine years-old, Lives in Berlin, Germany and then Poland Bruno’s Father- high ranking official in Hitler’s Nazi party. He is in charge of a concentration camp in Poland. Schmuel- a Jewish boy in the concentration camp. Bruno and Schmuel talk frequently through the fence.

Main Problem Bruno has to move from his house in Berlin. His father has received a promotion in the Nazi military and the family moves to Poland. Bruno is not allowed to go exploring, something that he wants to do. Bruno does go exploring and meets a boy on the other side of the fence. He eventually slips under the fence into the camp.
