COACHING TODAY’S PLAYERS AND TACKLING BOYLE COUNTY FOOTBALL COACHING TODAY’S PLAYERS AND TACKLING CIRCUIT CHUCK SMITH HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

Today’s Players We live in a society where we say you really didn’t lose; you just didn’t win. That is not realistic. Players do not buy WHAT you do they buy WHY you do it - What is your Cause, Purpose, Belief because that is your “WHY” There is “The Leader” and there are “Those that Lead” Two ways to see the world: Some people see the thing they want. Some people see the things that prevents them from getting what they want. Ex. Championship

Get players to out do themselves: Finite Players - Have boundary and limits - play to beat the players around them. Infinite Players - Exceeding Great - You play to beat yourself daily. Motivate Kids - They don’t care what you know until they know that you care. - Develop Relationships.

It is my job to help the player become the best they can be: When I push them past their limits they have to trust that I care before they will do it with passion and desire. If they are not then it is my job to decide what tone of voice to use to motivate them to want to do it. It is the players responsibility to want to be pushed. We must have a relationship and be sharing the same goals for this to happen.

When you discipline a player make sure you think about this - You are not doing it to them you are doing it for them. When making rules for your team follow these guidelines: Are you willing to enforce it consistently Are you willing to live with the consequences if someone breaks it. Will the rule make you a better program
