Role of specific reactive sites on silicon nitride surface in catalysis of isomerization and addition reactions A. V. Teplyakov, Department of Chemisty and Biochemisty, University of Delaware Si(100)-2x1 single crystal surface provides perfect model system with selectively prepared –NH2, =NH, and =N- reactive sites These sites will be tested for catalytic activity. One of the first examples studied, isomerization of 2,3-dimethyl-2-butene, yielded an unexpected result: this compound is completely unreactive towards even a clean, very reactive Si(100)-2x1 surface. This unique lack of chemical reactivity makes 2,3-dimethylbutene a perfect carrier gas or a great ligand for deposition on silicon
