What is a friend? Use the RACE method to respond. Homeroom Day 1: What is a friend? Use the RACE method to respond. Friend

Day 1: Pages 3-34 If you could create a collage of images that represent what Charlotte, Jack, or Julian is thinking, what would that look like?

Homeroom Day 2: Read the lyrics of the song, “Wonder.” Write a paragraph that explains the following: Why do you think R.J. Palacio included this song in the book? How does it relate to the plot and characters?

Day 2: Pages 35-70 Create an “I Am” poem from August’s point of view. Use page numbers to cite your evidence. Each line should reflect the theme of the novel. Place the page number at the end of the line in parenthesis.

Homeroom Day 3: How would you describe Auggie as a person in the first few chapters of the book? (Use RACE to answer.)

Day 3: Pages 71-104 Prove your answer by searching for text evidence. Fill in the chart as shown here: Character: Mom This character is ____________, _____________, and ______________. I know this because of how the character feels, acts, talks, and thinks. Trait 1 Trait 2 Trait 3 This is an example!

Homeroom Day 4: Read the lyrics of the song, “Space Oddity.” Write a paragraph that explains the following: Why do you think R.J. Palacio included this song in the book? How does it relate to the plot and characters?

Day 4: Pages 105-143 Reread the quote on page 133. Why would the author choose this quote to start the chapter from Jack’s perspective? Jack Now here is my secret. It is very simple. It is only with one’s heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye. --Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince
