What is a pediatrician? -A doctor! -Just for kids -Not for Mommy’s and Daddy’s -Helps you when you’re sick -Makes sure you are growing just right -Makes sure you are healthy!

Welcome to your pediatrician’s office! 1st – Your grown up has to sign in at the desk 2nd – The people at the desk will call your name 3rd – Your grown up will answer some questions 4th – Next, you will wait until the nurse calls you to come back! WELCOME!

Sick or Well Visit? When you get to the doctors, you have to pick a side to sit on Are you healthy today? Go to that side! Are you sick today? Go to that side!

Stop! Before you go back… First, the nurse has to check a few things! -Your height -Your weight -Your blood pressure

Height, Weight and Blood Pressure Height – how tall are you?? Weight – how much do you weight?? Blood Pressure – This machine will give your arm a great big hug to make sure your heart is healthy!

First, a nurse! Now you are in your room! -First, you will see the nurse -She will take your temperature -She will ask how you are feeling -When she’s done talking to you, she’ll get the doctor!

Thermometer This is what the nurse will use to take your temperature.

Next, your doctor! -Now, your doctor will come in -The doctor will… -ask you questions -see how you are feeling -do somethings if you’re sick -do other things if you’re healthy

What the doctor does Sick Well Ask you what is wrong Listen to your heart and lungs Look in your ears Look in your nose Check out your throat Listen if you have a cough Well Listen to your heart and lungs Look in your ears Look in your nose Look in your throat Feel your tummy Make you touch your toes

Stethoscope This is what the doctor uses to listen to your heart and listen to how you breathe.

Sick Well Lots of questions What’s wrong? What hurts? How long has it hurt? Can you take a deep breath? Is your nose stuffy? Well Do you eat healthy foods? Do you wear your helmet? Do you brush your teeth? Do you go to school? Do you go to bed on time?

This is a light the doctor uses to look in your ear. Otoscope This is a light the doctor uses to look in your ear.

If you’re sick… -The doctor will ask you questions (Questions like how bad it hurts) -They will figure out what is wrong -The doctor might give you medicine -They may ask you to come back soon -If you come back soon, its to make sure the medicine worked!

This is what the doctor will use to look in your throat. Say AHHHH!! This is what the doctor will use to look in your throat.

It will only tickle a little Sometimes the doctor will push on your belly They do this to make sure your belly is healthy It may tickle a little But its ok to laugh!

Can you touch your toes? The doctor may ask you to bend over and touch your toes! Keep your knees straight! Bend over as far as you can! Reach for your toes! The doctor does this to make sure your back is straight and healthy!

It’s just a little pinch Sometimes you have to get a needle It wont hurt that bad! Be brave, it will be over quick! Needles help you stay healthy Then, get an awesome Band-Aid!
