3/22/16 AIM: How did “Renaissance men” help shape Europe in the late 14th to early 17th centuries? Do-Now: (Review) Why is the Renaissance considered a golden age?

The Renaissance <> Italy was made up of city states (not one nation). They had their own independent governments. <>Florence- Controlled by the De Medici Family, who became great patrons of the arts. <>Venice- Sitting on the water, it attracts trade from all over the world.

The Renaissance: <>Wealthy patrons (financial backers) helped fund artistic works. <> Most of these paintings focused on nature, portrait and secular imagery including Greek and Roman mythology.
