Boundaries Shang Dynasty The boundaries are from the Yellow River to the Yangtze The Shang Dynasty had to guard against the flooding of the Yellow and Yangtze River The ancient Shang developed complex forms of irrigation and flood control

About the Gobi desert The Gobi Desert was a natural barrier which protected Ancient China from enemies The Gobi covers about 1.3 million square kilometers Gobi means “Waterless Place” It is about 500,000 sq. miles The Gobi Desert expands into Chinas grasslands, the dust storms heavily damage agriculture

Shang dynasty inventions Chopsticks Oracle bones The chopsticks were mainly invented for a better way to eat their food. The oracle bones were usually made out a turtle shell and were used for writing and records

About the Shang Dynasty The Shang Dynasty had al total of 34 kings up to this day. Shang Dynasty was the first recorded dynasty and lasted from 1766 - to1122 BCE It was during the Shang Dynasty that bronze working became more common The Shang Dynasty used chariots and axes When the Xia Dynasty ended the Shang Dynasty rose to take its place The Shang Dynasty fell and was replaced by the Zhou dynasty

Interesting facts that we found about the Shang Dynasty and Gobi Desert The Gobi is the 5th largest desert in the world Only 5% of the desert is sand dunes Populated mostly by Mongols and Han Chinese The Shang Dynasty is believed to be the oldest Chinese dynasty based in history Shang dynasty’s music would came from ocarina, stone chimes, and bronze bells and drums.

Yin and Yang The words Yin and Ying mean dark side and sunny side In Chinese philosophy Yin and Yang described how apparently opposite or contrary forces are actually complimentary For example : Light and Dark, Fire and Water, Male and Females Yin and Yang = Opposite yet same For instance shadow can not exist without light and visa versa

Conclusion During our research we learned so much like how the Gobi desert is the 5th largest desert in the world. We spent a lot of time doing this power point. We hope you’ve enjoyed our power point. Thank you.
