Beaver County, Pennsylvania 2010 Census: Population- 170,500 2014 Poverty Rate- 11.7% 17 public and private high schools in the county Beaver County Distress Score – 27.3: Based on unemployment, high school diplomas, income stats – In 2nd tier out of 5 (comfortable) Beaver County ranks 39/67 in health rating in Pennsylvania Unemployment rates- Dec. 2015 (5.5%); Dec. 2016 (5.6%): Dec. 2017 (4.9%) The U.S. unemployment rate in Dec. 2017 was 4.1% SHELL Global building Ethane Cracker plant which takes ethane from the Marcellus and Utica shales and turns it into the building blocks of many types of plastics. Community College of Beaver County CCBC transforms lives through personalized education, dynamic partnerships, and high impact practices. The college has an annual enrollment of 6,000 credit and non-credit students.
